I’m actually shocked I never thought to post about this before now! I basically survived on this snack for the past 3 years!! Puppy Chow (or perhaps you know it by another name?) is one of my allll time favorite snacks to make ever, and it’s super simple to do to! Even I can do it all by myself with no help from anyone!
What you need is:
9 cups Rice Chex (or Corn Chex if you prefer)
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (I added a little extra, oops!)
1/2 cup Peanut Butter (creamy)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
I like to pre-scoop out the chex and powdered sugar and keep them in separate bowls for later. So I put the chex in a GIANT bowl and the powdered sugar in another smaller bowl. Then get a little pot and put the chocolate in. Melt it on low on the stovetop, stirring so it doesn’t stick and start to burn! Once the chocolate is all melted you add the peanut butter and vanilla extract and mix it all together!
Pour this mixture over your chex in the big bowl and mix it all up with your hands! You’ll get all messy, but it tastes good, so no big deal! Make sure all the chex is evenly coated! You don’t want any naked pieces because the sugar won’t stick and that’s no good!!
Once all mixed scoop the chex out into a large zip lock bag (I used two gallon bags, which I later combined into 1 for the last shakes) and add the powdered sugar! SHAKE IT UP LIKE THERE IS NO TOMORROW!!!! You want everything to be nicely coated in sugar!!
I like to put my puppy chow into a bowl and seal it tightly! (Cause the ziplock bags get a bit messy!) Yum! Best snack ever!
