The Bookworm Does: Go Karting + Mini Golf

Life, Local Flavor

One of my favorite things to do in the summer is mini golf, and I’m pretty competitive with it as well! We had to drive for a bit (an hour) to get to this place, but I had a Groupon, and well, you can’t compete with that! The downside though….when we got there it was FULL of small children there for a private party! So we couldn’t go-kart until they left. That meant we had to mini golf first!

The course was pretty fun and nicely laid out as well. Granted, there were children running all around…I mean really. They would smack their multi-colored golf balls ACROSS THE ENTIRE COURSE! Then run all willy nilly across holes without regard for anybody else there. Goodness, do these children know anything about manners? Gosh.

We were thankfully far enough behind the giant groups of rowdy children (read: young boys) that we only caught up to them once, and it was in time to watch the one kid hit his ball all the way to another hole…up a hill, over a net, and through bushes.
Then we also got to witness a little girl just casually stroll across a hole, down the middle, WHILE PEOPLE WERE PLAYING IT!! Avoid mini golf courses when there is a private party. You have been warned.

Of course I won. But as you notice, it was a pretty close game there until the end! I hope he didn’t loose on purpose…..

Then we got to go-kart! The boyfriend almost lapped me! Gosh, I don’t know how he did that! I only passed 4 people! It was super fun though!!

  • I tend to go to mini-golf courses close to closing time so I can avoid crowds of children. Glad you still had fun, though!

  • I haven't gone mini golfing in forever, but I love it! It's so fun when you go to the theme ones, like a pirate theme! My brothers and I were always competitive, even though we all suck at it lol!

Ohhh mini golfing and small children. To be honest, I've never understood why people think that is a good idea. And I feel fully justified in saying that as I HAVE a young child. I feel like mini-golf is a game of concentration, patience, and focus. Which you know, so many little kids have. . .
I certainly won't be bringing my little one to mini-golf – it just feels like a recipe for disaster!
I haven't been go-karting in years! So much fun. My friends and I still want to go one day dressed up as different Mario Kart characters. I must make that happen. 😀

  • My husband and I played mini golf once together… it was fun… but I went in HEELS… I have no idea why, I think I was trying to impress him or try and look a certain way… lol it was horrible. 😛 We also went go-kart racing and that was a lot of fun!! Sucks you guys were there when a private party was taking place… You should have hit one of the kids with the b — I mean… you should have joined along with the kids! (HAHA YEAH RIGHT!!)

    Glad y'all had fun! 🙂

  • Oh gosh! That had to have been SO HARD! I can't imagine playing mini golf in heels!! The kids got pretty annoying! Ugh!

  • I played mini golf when I was little, but not THAT little, probably around 4th grade or so little. Granted, I'm terrible at telling age. I would totally go go-karting dressed as princess peach, I do have that costume!!

  • I'm super competitive at sports like that haha! Themed courses are the best! I love to see all the fun holes they have, with ramps and pipes and stuff!

  • I should have thought of that….going near closing time would have been so much better!

  • Kay

AH, jealous! That's exactly who I would want to dress up as. I play her in whenever possible – there's something so satisfying about kicking butt in a pink poofy dress. 😀

  • Looks like fun! <3
