Books for Breakfast #68

Book Reviews

I received this book for free from Blogging for Books in order to give it an honest review
This time I read:
What You Left Behind – Samantha Hayes
I’m always drawn to a good murder mystery, in fact they happen to be one of my favorite genres. This book has an interesting setting, rural U.K, in a small town. It starts out with a detective from the big city coming back to visit her sister, who is always getting into some trouble or another. Of course, in a small town, everything is inter-connected somehow. I am well aware of that, being from Erie and all. Well anyways, back to the story. The small town had a spurt of teenage suicides a few months back that ended with a promising college aged boy. The town was panicked, everyone worried about their children and hoping that it would end soon.
Suddenly, another suicide occurs and the town is up in arms again. The off duty detective, visiting with her daughter, starts to feel that these suicides might be more than they seem. Something else is going on and everyone seems to have something to hide. It’s a book that makes you wonder what everyone’s secrets are. You mistrust almost every character and constantly wonder who has a part in what tragedy.
It was an interesting read with a lot of twists and turns. There are a lot of sub plots all merging together and it keeps you guessing every time you think you’ve finally figured it all out!
Next on my list is:
This One Summer & Attachments
