Fun Summer Reading Challenges

I was the queen of summer reading back in elementary school & middle school & high school…aka back when summer reading was a thing. It’s a little bit depressing that summer reading tends to cease to be a thing once you hit college and beyond…and to that I say pshhhhhhhh! (You don’t understand how long it took me to figure out what word to use. I almost used ptooey. Which I discovered has a proper spelling) I think summer reading should ALWAYS be a thing! And I got some great ways for you to jump charge your summer reading! It might be a bit late (like halfway through summer) but it’s never too late to jump into summer reading!

First, I saw on Penguin’s Twitter that they have a little reading challenge to celebrate 80 years of best sellers! Obviously, like any posted reading challenge, I have to see how many of the books that I’ve read. I’ve since learned that I apparently haven’t read too many classics….oops! So if you are into building up your list of classics, check out this challenge!

I only got 7, which isn’t much at all! I need to get my classics game on!

Secondly, Book Bingo! I didn’t even know this was a thing until I was on the Instagram of small local bookstore from Pittsburgh called Kards Unlimited. Obviously, I don’t live in Pittsburgh anymore, but that doesn’t mean I’m still not going to call some attention to my favorite stores from back there! So if you live in Pittsburgh, you should totally check this out! Every bingo gets you a 10% coupon! Pretty rad right?

I think this idea is absolutely stellar! I almost want to make my own reading bingo sheet! In fact, anyone could make their own for summer reading! I think that would be really fun! In fact, even though I don’t have anything to really give out, except for some exposure via a blog post, I think I’m going to take some inspiration from KU and make my own! Anyways, it’s a little bit late but join in with #summerbookwormbingo on Instagram!!

You can download and print your own BINGO cards here! If you get a bingo you can call it out on Instagram with the hashtag and at the end of August I’ll write a wrap up shouting out everyone that got a BINGO and my own journey to BINGO as well! If anyone has any interest in being a co-host, you can let me know! I’d love some other bookish bloggers to join in! You can even make your own BINGO cards!

Let’s get summer reading!!
