Exploring Katy

Life, Local Flavor

We’ve been slowly exploring our new city, which is substantially bigger than the last one, so it’s taken quite a while! Recently we decided to check out a nearby park to walk around and enjoy the nearly stifling heat. Dude, do you even know how hot it is here compared to Pittsburgh? I was not as prepared as I thought I was. Anyways, so our local park exploration began with:
Meaning….no ducks allowed in the park? How is that even enforced? Is a word missing? No feeding the ducks? No petting the ducks? No capturing the ducks? I don’t know, but the sign does seem to strongly suggest that no ducks are allowed, no ducks at all. Yet…

Ducks don’t care. Ducks break all the rules. These ducks are illegal. Or something like that. They were also not afraid of people at all, this duck was totally staring me down.

In addition, we visited the little Katy Museum of Modern Art where they were doing a showing of art from art teachers in the area! It was pretty awesome! I loved the idea and the art was all diverse and really awesome! A lot of it was for sale too!

We ended our super awesome day with a stop at a local brewery called No Label! The bartender was AWESOME! He told us all the area, the history of the brewery, parts of the city to explore or avoid, and more! It was totally awesome! We also got to taste test a bunch of the beers, which was also amazing! I went with the seasonal lavender brew, yes, that’s right, a beer brewed with lavender! It was really tasty! I loved it!

There’s nothing more fun than exploring the city you are living in!

Great post! That museum looks really interesting. 🙂

  • hmmm that duck sign is interesting! there are so many wild ducks and birds here in florida, I have no idea how you would even stop ducks from entering a park haha

  • I really need to up my heat expectations now…

  • 90 degrees at 7pm with 100% humidity all day every day….and it isn't even the hottest month right now…..wait till August and September! *melts*

  • There was a fence….but I don't think a 3 foot fence could really stop birds from entering a park haha! It's such a silly sign!!

  • It was small but full of some great pieces! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

I've lived in NH my whole life and I'm not sure I could ever be prepared for Texas heat!! That art museum looked like a great time!

  • Is it cruel that i'm glad other people I know via the internet understand my pain now?

  • hahahahahha!! No, I understand. I felt that way when people I knew came to Pittsburgh and complained about the cold!

  • It's not something you can really prepare for, it just sorta punches you in the face and then you sweat all the time haha!
