By Design – The New Logo

Design

I thought I’d share a bit of the process behind my new logo design! As a designer I have a focus on branding, I love creating brands from the ground up, or reworking old brands into something new and better. When I finally decided that Bookworms in Dresses didn’t really encompass what my brand was really about, I knew that I had to create something new!

I have a rather long standing obsession with mint. (Also the color yellow) My wallet is mint, I got a mint phone case for a while, I went on a mad hunt for the perfect mint shade of nail polish. I also was torn between script font and a stark sans serif font. Either very modern and formal, or flowing and organic. Obviously, I went with the flowing and organic look with the final. There were also a lot of other blog names thrown around.

It can be hard to find something that feels like it clicks. Here is a look at my work on the design during the starting phase:

I also work on paper before this step, I like being able to just sketch by hand before moving to work on the computer. Maybe I’m just a little bit old fashioned! Normally I don’t share the draft stages or the studies stages, and obviously I cleaned up the above a little, no use showing the embarrassingly bad designs, you know?

If you need some help on logo design or re-design, I’m still working freelance!

A bookworm since the tender age of whenever I stopped chewing on books and started actually reading them. A cat-mom, graphic designer, and introvert originally from Pittsburgh, but now resides in the humid, hot, state of Texas. Cheers!

  • I love it! And welcome back!!! It’s so good to be reading your stuff again. The new look is amazing. i’ll definitely be contacting you if I ever decide to change things up on my blog!

    • Aw yeah!! 😀 Thank you!! It feels good to be back again!

  • I love the logo you settled on! Although the one with the little glasses is cute, too! 🙂

    • I liked that one too, but my panel of judges (aka friends) all loved the script more than the sans serif!

  • I love your new design!

    • Thank you! 🙂 I’m quite proud of how it turned out!
